VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Educational Docents

  • Farm Docents: Every School year, approximately 3,000 third graders visit the farm for a morning field trip. Docents are needed to lead tours describing the history of the Farm, showing them how to garden, or explore Grandma’s trunk or Grandpa’s tool chest (a script is provided). If you are available weekday mornings and enjoy working with children, this is a fun program. The program runs five months a year, October, November, March, April, and May.
  • Glass House Docents: We need volunteers to lead tours of the Glass House Museum and to welcome visitors in our Welcome Center when we are open.

The Glass House is one of the best kept secret gems of the Bay Area!  This impressive two story, nine room historic home deserves to be shown off and needs dedicated individuals to help lead tours for the public. If you have an interest in history, we will provide the training and scripts necessary for tours. Please call 925-973-3284 or email Alightfoot@sanramon.ca.gov for more information.

Garden Volunteers & Annual Clean-Up

How about helping with the annual clean-up? The farm and equipment get dusty over the winter months, and we need help to make everything clean and shiny.

Garden Volunteers help maintain our vegetable garden, maintain and help expand our California native wildlife garden, work in our herb garden, help manage groups of people on our twice-yearly large volunteer workdays, and if interested, can be Garden Docents for the 3rd grade education program.

Tractor Volunteers

Our active group of tractor volunteers helps with restoration of tractors, and we currently have an impressive display in our large barn. These volunteers also operate tractors occasionally in parades, help disc the fields at Forest Home Farms, and move tractors around for special events at the farm.

Event Support

  • Fun on the Farm
  • Arbor Day
  • Holiday on the Farm
  • And others, we have many needs to fill, some are on-going, and some are one day events.

Event Support

We always need volunteers to help at events (Crab Feed, Sheep Shearing, Oktoberfest, etc) with such things as setup, cleanup, ticket taking, food sales, among other duties.

Board  Support

The San Ramon Historic Foundation is operated by a group of San Ramon residents that volunteer their administrative skills. We could use your support and time.

Gift  Shoppe

Our Gift Shoppe at Forest Home Farms is operated by SRHF volunteers. No experience is necessary and training provided by our Shoppe Manager.

Email us at sanramonhf@gmail.com if interested in any of the SRHF volunteer opportunities.
